Gym Candy by Carl Deuker

I finished this one in two days. We had a tech rehearsal so I got like two days of reading done yesterday and tonight's the concert so I'll get more reading done today too.

Mick's dad played football so of course he taught his son to play even though his mother wanted him to do gymnastics as well. Mick wants to prove he is the best footballer out their always wanting to be a star. When a trainer he works with privatly offers him a way to get and upper edge Mich has to make the choice. Will he go for the edge or will he continue without cheating?

I give it a 4/5. I couldn't get into the book all that much. I don't get football at all so hearing some of the tech terms didn't help me understand. I couldn't feel the characters struggles. To me what separates good writers from great writers is the way the write it to make you feel the struggle.
